Our Tomatoes
I used to go by the name Wolf Peach — a poetic old term for the tomato. But over time, friends and customers gently shared that it was a little confusing. After some reflection, I chose a name that felt closer to the heart of this journey: Tomato Love.
Since then, I’ve been adding more seedling varieties each year, often based on your requests. I’ve also moved away from a pre-order system to keep things simple and stress-free. Now, when the tomatoes are ready, I’ll send out an email — and you can order straight away. Your seedlings will be delivered overnight, fresh and full of life, ready to plant in the garden the very next day.
Our Tomatoes
perilousI grow my seedlings from trusted heirloom seed suppliers — and increasingly, from my own saved seed. Most of my tomato varieties are ready by Labour Weekend, and yes — I can post up to six seedlings anywhere in Aotearoa.
I use overnight courier, so your plants arrive fast and fresh. Just choose your delivery option and pick your favourite six.
I started this system four years ago, and it's worked beautifully ever since. The plants consistently arrive in great condition, thanks to a shift I made early on, removing plastic from the process. I began by rolling pots out of newspaper using a wine bottle, which turned out to be the perfect size. From there, I took it one step further and began packing six plants snugly into recycled wine boxes, keeping everything secure and plastic-free!
As long as the box is handled with care and not flipped upside down, the seedlings usually arrive perfectly — still bright, green, and ready for your garden. You won’t see the tomato seedling selection just yet — I’ve only just sown the seeds. It can be a bit hit or miss, especially with older seed or ones sourced from other companies. This year, I’ve brought back a bunch of old favourites, and some of the seed is over four years old… so we’ll see how it goes! Sometimes, I lose a few too — it's a plant thing.
If you’d like to be the first to know when the seedlings are ready and the store lights up, make sure you’re signed up for email updates.
Our Methods
My love of tomatoes is 100% over the top, and proudly so.
I believe the stems should be thick, the leaves vibrant and green. I don’t grow vast quantities, I grow quality. Every seedling gets attention, care, and the best start I can give it.
I use a high-quality potting mix, seaweed fertilisers, and my secret tomato tonic, all to bring you a strong, healthy plant that’s ready to take off in your garden.
I know how lucky I am to have come from a family that gardened. It was my grandparents who shared their passion with me, and I’ve never forgotten it. Especially my grandfather Kenneth's legendary beefsteaks, or his giant strawberries!
I hope you enjoy my seedlings as much as I enjoy growing them. And most of all, I hope you get to share the fruits of your labour with the people you love. This image gives you an idea of how I craft paper pots by rolling newspaper around a wine bottle and shipping our seedlings in recycled wine boxes, eco-friendly packaging for conscientious growers.df
By using wooden sticks instead of plastic labels, I reduce my reliance on a product that is currently harming our environment, which in turn affects our health. If I find a more environmentally friendly option, I will likely adopt it.

An image of the beautiful Petaka Stream located in the hills of Omanaia. It's absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite places.
Omanaia
Currently, I reside in beautiful Omanaia in the Hokianga, and its beauty has captivated me. I dig this place, literally! And if you need honey, head over to my family's website, Hosanna Honey. Yes, my brother is an amazing beekeeper and his wife Debbie has incredibly competitive honey prices, sourced from the beautiful Coromandel. Simply the best! Point of difference is he uses organic treatments to fight the dreaded varroa. So if you are keen for honey with less chemicals, head on over for some delicious honey.
We start our seedlings right here in Hokianga, using open-pollinated heirloom seed varieties. We avoid chemicals and sprays - relying solely on healthy soil, sunshine, and time.
That's my first year's attempt in Rawene and the hardening off process. It was a real learning experience.
Aunty Carol's
There was a house on a hill in Te Puke, surrounded by gardens and hidden paths that wound through rockeries and camellia trees. Aunty Carol's chocolate cosmos, chamomile, lavender and sweetpea forever and always will remain in my memory. I will never forget the day you introduced me to a flower with the scent of chocolate, incredible!
The legend herself, my Aunty Carol.
Whether you're new to gardening or planting your tenth crop, our seedlings are hardy, healthy and lovingly homegrown.
