• Stacey's beast of a tomato.

One of my customers grew this; it was a beast. Thank you, Stacey, for letting me share this.

A snapshot sent in by one of my customers, incredible, this was a Pink Brandywine.

    Pink Brandywine.

    The Brandywine Beast

    Days to ripen: 77

    Fruits on the vine: 32

    Average weight: 250g

But this one? This one broke the mould.

When a plant sets that many fruit, you don’t usually get giants — but sometimes, one tomato decides to go full drama queen.

This Brandywine tipped the scales at 916g.

    A real beast.

Brandywines are known for their rich, intense flavour, and their vines? Wild, sprawling, and gloriously unruly.

Honestly, I think the unruly ones are the best.

Like most big beefsteaks, this beauty shows concentric cracking near the stem — a common trait when heavy fruit meets changing weather.

Got a tomato that went rogue in your garden?

Send me your monster pics. I’m here for the weird, the wonderful, and the wildly oversized.

  • Looks like you can grow a good tomato in Dunedin.

Thank you, Aniko for sending in a picture of your fantastic results from Dunedin.

A customer from Dundedin sent me in a pick of their crop, I think the one in her hand looks like a Soldacki, the yellow ones look like Faribo Gold and the small red ones are Rosalitas. The small ones to the right look like Purple Calabash.
