Passed down through the Pinto family of Long Island, De Pinto is a distinctive heirloom paste tomato with an unmistakable pointed blossom end. This vigorous indeterminate variety produces clusters of 5–7 elongated, plum-shaped fruit weighing around 45–60 g. Dense, meaty flesh with relatively little juice makes it an excellent choice for rich pasta sauces, bottling, preserving and slow roasting. As the fruit ripens, the shoulders may develop attractive golden marbling before turning a rich red. Plants are highly productive throughout the season and benefit from staking or trellising.
