  • Tiny Lives, Big Impact!

Why do we protect what's small?

In the quiet of evening, I found them, bumblebees tucked behind the dahlia bloom, sleeping soundly beneath its petals. That moment changed everything.

"I realised flowers aren't just beautiful, they're shelter, sanctuary, and survival."

Since then, I've decided to hurl myself off the crazy end of wild and grow more than I can manage, for these tiny lives that have a big impact.

Let the dahlia games begin. Bumblebees are so cute, and their fluffy bottoms make me laugh. I'm more than happy to accommodate and protect all my little beasties.

    And I've noticed something else:

The more flowers I grow, the better my tomato outcomes. I really think I'm onto something — I've reunited a sacred Mexican trio: dahlias, tomatoes and marigolds. Each one a bearer, of beauty, sustenance, and spirit.

It makes sense. Research has shown that greater diversity of plants in a garden increases the number of insects present. But when things get tough, it's always the predators that stay on top.
